This is the man who, when bowled by Shane Warne's 'ball of the century', supposedly prompted Graham Gooch to say: "I bet he wouldn't have missed it if it was a cheese sandwich!"

10dulkar undergoes surgery in London.

Here's to a speedy recovery.

Well, that was a jinx post if ever there was. Edwards does his leg in in his 2nd over and Afridi is out for 122.

Good for Chanderpaul. He doesn't have delusions of grandeur like Lara and stay aloof from his mates.

If he can turn Windies' cricket around, we will have an interesting World Cup.

BTW, the Scottish "Palestinian terrorist" fast bowler seems to have an enviable analysis--8-4-10-1. Warwicks would have thought he was hurling grenades by the look of it.

Did you know that Sangakkara is replacing 10dulkar?:kowt:

Shiv does look a bit defensive sometimes with the field settings, even when they're clearly on top, it'll be interesting to see how things go if the 2nd Test is a close one.

Think Thorpey should play in the Ashes? Some apparently don't.

Having a left-handed veteran in between the number 4 and Flintoff could still be the way to go. Thorpe's running between the wickets looked a tad suspect against the Bangas, and we know how often the Oz fielders hit the stumps, so you can't have everything with him. If they go for youthfulness with Bell 4 Pietersen 5, is it too much of a gamble to lose the experience?

I tend to look at it this way. If you are 50/3 or in a worse case scenario 12/9  do you want Thorpe or Pieterson in? I think the selectors would be making a big error in dropping him. Nobody else matches his consistancy against the ozzies. Doesn't help that we have no idea yet how Pieterson will perform against them until the ODI's.

I'd bank on Thorpe being more likely to hold things together if the others are going like proverbial lemmings, yes. If Butcher is fit in time, I would suppose he would automatically get the no.3 spot back, judging from comments made by Fletcher (I think) in the recent past, and I rather liked seeing Vaughan at 4, since he batted more often with Flintoff. Even if he carts McGrath all over the park in the one-dayers, Pietersen may well have to wait until Thorpe retires to get his chance in a Test.

Pity about Butch, we don't need him now, and he should have to earn his place back now having been out for so long. Could be tricky with somebody averaging a hundred more than him in tests at present. :D
