I hate football, and the endless media coverage of it in this country, so splendidly good showing by your divers. Um, lads I mean. :Obmar:

Wayne Rooney did not deserve a red card. He was set up for it by Cristiano Ronaldo. England played better football. Portugal won only because of the penalty shootout. To put it in Brit football parlance, "they wuz robbed."

Meanwhile, in the ultimate game of cricket, India is 225 ahead with 4 wickets remaining and Dravid, like Casabianca, holding the fort as usual. Sometimes, I think he is Ken Barrington reincarnated.

England manage 321 against the Lankans who respond with 286 for no loss (new world record) and go on to win in style.

If you've sobered up yet, cast your eyes on this. It could have happened to us if we hadn't batted first. :Obmar:

The papers say that the Lankans were angry and did not want to play the match but were forced to play by their cricket board and just took their anger out on the Dutch.:Bad:

As Chris Read vents his anger on Pakistan (or 'Pakistanis' as cricinfo puts it :uh: ). Pity we didn't enforce the follow on.

That is the way we subcontinentals put it.

It is not a team; it is a nation.:scrollhah

BTW, is the follow on out of fashion or something. England bowlers have been exceptional. They ought to have been given another crack at Pakistan.

Why not just finish it off?:wonder:

Ah, apparently, Bob Key wanted to use 10 different bowlers. That's a sound enough reason I suppose. :silence:

"When I think of what's beautiful in cricket, I think of Inzamam."

I presume he means Inzi's style of play rather than the man himself.

Obviously he hasn't seen David Gower bat and Mike Holding bowl.;)

Meanwhile, you Poms seem to be making mincemeat out of the Pakistanis.:D
