England only need two bowlers it seems, and the Lankans just two batters. The four should have their own series to themselves.

Maybe play Monty and Giles in the Ashes, could be a good spinfest if Warne and MacGill both play too.

Every time he would return to his fielding place on the boundary after completing an over, the crowd would cheer him lustily. When he returned to his place after taking the fifth wicket in Pakistan's second innings, the crowd bowed in admiration, representing a new high in the history of cricketers of Indian origin playing for England.

Counties reduce overseas players

Chief executive Richard Bevan said: "Having two overseas players has created unsustainable financial pressures for counties, so we believe this change is very sensible.

Violence follows England wash-out

It takes a certain passion for the game:

At least one man was killed, nearly 400 injured and a dozen houses burned down in a series of clashes following a controversial umpiring decision in rural Bangladesh. Police fired gunshots and tear gas to disperse the rioters near Brahmanbaria, 60 miles from Dhaka.

An estimated 45,000 spectators in Mumbai saw Super Smashers (captained by 12-year-old Devin Bhatia) defeat Mark's Maniacs (captained by Mark Waugh) in Cartoon Network's Toon Cricket 2005. Super Smashers included Scooby Doo, Johnny Bravo, Dee Dee, Jerry, Fred and Bob the Builder. Mark's Maniacs had Mojo Jojo, Popeye, Olive Oyl, Tom, Dexter and Noddy. [Dexter is a boy genius inventor, not a former England captain.]
