Waugh is a great captain. He learned from Border and Taylor that you have to be absolutely ruthless in the test arena. Nevertheless the Windies trip is always a long hard slog. The Windies fans are as rabid as anywhere on earth, and a great distraction for any team, but especially for the aussies.

Ag- "Steve Waugh is the master of psychological warfare on the cricket field." Agreed but I will disagree with you on the your other point. The Aussies should win it but the Windies could cause trouble they are an improving team and if Lara hits some form who knows. Last time round the windies did well thanks largely to some amazing displays by lara. Of the top of my head the series might of even been drawn im not sure.

ted,
If the Windies do rise up to the occasion, it'll be good for cricket. It'd make the 2007 cup more interesting of course, but I'd wager on Oz for this series.
You've got to watch out for Lawson, Sarwan and Samuels. And if Lara and Hooper fire, it would be a good contest.
Pity the telecasts start at an unearthly hour.

Lara has had some memorable knocks against Oz. However he has struggled when he's captain. He's just been named captain!!!

Curiouser and curiouser.
And this piece takes the cake.

The WICB also named Australian Cricket Academy head, Bennett King, as the new coach while Ricky Skerritt was retained as team manager, subject to completion of contractual negotiations.

An Aussie to coach them against Oz!!!

Punting in Sharjah is unofficial and illegal. I dont have the odds with me at present but can get you the details tomorrow.

BTW,
Steve Waugh and Hayden have started the Caribbean tour with centuries.

Waugh's not through yet, but I think if they win the series, h'll retire a champ.

Waugh is a folk hero in India.
He is perhaps the only foreign cricketer known even to village kids.
When we play Australia, the cry is "Let India win, but let Steve Waugh get a hundred for Australia."
