Hey Rich
Welcome to the most read/contributed to thread on the site:p
We discuss cricket here. If you are unfamiliar with the game go to www.usa-cricinfo.com or Wisden to learn more. Try reading the rules of Cricket, but they're a bit confusing to the unitiated. It took me about 2 years to understand the game, let alone watch a test match, but then I became hooked!:D

But didn't Zim have 3 sets of brothers playing at one stage? Maybe in SA a few years back?

Damn, none of these are working for me. Must be a sign. Is it something like Baseball?

Vaguely like baseball, yes. A lot slower though. Matches can last for 5 days.

Rich

Baseball is based on cricket, but was made to allow everyone to have a bat. Sometimes in cricket a batsman will stay in for a day or more! Scoring 100, 200 or 300 runs. Go to one of the statistics sites if you can or search for Donald Bradman who averaged 99.9 runs every at bat!:D

5 days? No wonder it's not big in the US. Most of us have the attention span of a strung out 2 year old. I'll have to check it out.

There is also the one-day game 50 overs a side. Can be incredibly exciting! You sometimes see some real big hitting!

If you look at some one-day scorecards from the West Indies v. Australia series just finished you'll see some top scores. They read R(uns) B(alls) 4s (a ball hit ot the fence, kind of like a ground rule double) 6s (over the fence, like a homer)

Hi guys,
Sorry I vanished yesterday. The comp was rendered hors de combat by one of our famous voltage fluctuations.
I was watching the match today and this chap Richard Johnson who made his debut, seems to be making waves. Pity he's being blooded when he has lost half the hair on his head. He ought to have played at least a decade ago. Bowls straight and fairly fast inswingers. Deserved all the five wickets he has taken so far. And all the lbws were out.
BTW, the WIndies take on Sri Lanka tomorrow and Murali has vowed to get Lara's scalp.

6 wickets. ;)

I expect the WIndies should be able to beat SL. They're not that strong.

I agree Gospel. If he can put in a simiar effort next innings he could come out of the match with a debut 10 wicket haul.
