Marines find suspected chemical weapons
April 14 2003

US marines have discovered 278 artillery shells carrying a substance that tested positive as a chemical agent, senior officers said.

Major Stephen Armes, operations officer of the Marines 1st Battalion, 5th Regiment, said the shells, containing suspected blister agents, were found on Saturday in trailers parked in a schoolyard.

Three were mounted on launchers, he said yesterday.

"They tested positive for chemical weapons," he told AFP. But Lieutenant Colonel Fred Padilla, the battalion commander, said more tests were required.

US forces who invaded Iraq on March 20 in a declared bid to strip Baghdad of suspected nuclear, chemical and biological weapons have yet to find what they consider a "smoking gun" that Saddam Hussein possessed such arms.

Previous reports of chemical weapons finds have turned out to be false on further analysis.

Major Armes said: "We found 278 artillery shells that had blister agents at a schoolyard parked in trailers. Three of them were on launchers."

But Colonel Padilla remained prudent, saying only that initial tests had indicated the presence of chemical arms. "The munitions need further analysis," he said.

I think Iraq had/has WMD. But either way, no matter what, even if they didn't/don't, they will find them if you know what I mean.

Bwa ha ha, the US war criminals did it in the pants again with this Iraq "mobile chem labs"

The lying US idiots are torn between planting something in Iraq, or blaming Sirians of "allowing Iraq chem factories to hide in Siria". Either way their claims are not taken seriously because of the low US credibility. LOL :D

Tests rule out suspect bio-labs
Tuesday, April 15, 2003 Posted: 5:53 PM EDT (2153 GMT)

KARBALA, Iraq (CNN) -- The buried labs U.S. troops found last week were not the mobile chemical and biological weapons labs one U.S. Army general suspected, according to the head of an expert team brought in to examine them.

The 11 cargo containers were filled with new laboratory equipment apparently intended to make conventional weapons, said team leader Chief Warrant Officer 2 Monte Gonzalez.
"Based on what we've seen, the containers are full of millions of dollars worth of high-tech equipment," he said. "It possibly has a dual use. But it does not appear to be weapons of mass destruction."

Members of the 101st Airborne's 2nd Brigade found the site -- about 50 miles south of Baghdad near Karbala -- last week as they were heading north to Baghdad.
