Europe is a bit different on these points and the ex-warsaw block of europe is also different.

you are very much right. the public schools and public health system is non-existant in north america. maybe something in canada, but the USA; forget it.

Yes,

Italy is on Balkan peninsula too. There is a large land stolen from Italy by Croat Comunists after WWII. It is Istria peninsula and almost whole Adriatic coast (Dalmazzia).

It should be returned ASAP.

you are missing the point of unification. the idea is that all of the balkans may be united with italy, and united as equals. not controled as colonies.

you are very right. <nepravda> would use a hoe to chop down all the corn and then have no crop, no bread.

after thousands of years of destruction and war, he still is not the truth, he still is "ne pravda".

it is sad.

We are currently undergoing some structural change in the direction of a federal state, and the left believes (really doesn't believe, but finds it convenient to say) that a dark "balkan" future is waiting for us.
No reference to reality, of course, no weapons around, no propension to fight, almost half of the northern population having southern roots, etc.

Arrivederci, democracy

By Graham Allison, GRAHAM ALLISON, director of the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs at Harvard's Kennedy School of Government, was assistant secretary of Defense from 1993 to 1994.

THIS WEEK, Russia assumed the presidency of the most prestigious club of the world's leading industrial democracies. But many are questioning not only Russia's fitness to serve as chair but even its qualification for membership in the Group of 8. China, for example, has not been invited to join this group, despite the fact that it has the second-largest economy in the world in purchasing-power parity (third at dollar exchange rates), because it fails the test of democracy.

Russia's backsliding from democracy moved Sens. John McCain (R-Ariz.) and Joe Lieberman (D-Conn.) to introduce legislation urging President Bush to suspend Russia from the G-8 until President Vladimir V. Putin's government "ends its assault on democracy and political freedom." They point to its lack of adherence to the rule of law, its suppression of independent media and its stifling of the political opposition, among other problems. Their resolution asserts that Russia fails to meet the minimum standards of democratic rule "that characterize every other member of the G-8."

The senators' challenge deserves serious consideration. As we stop and reflect, we should ask:

[[ this is a different style (an old fashioned "cold war" style) of saying the following - - - "we are still fighting the russian 'untermenschen' to make sure that he does not finish high-school and to make sure that he does not become ouir economic equal.]]

They point to its lack of adherence to the rule of law,

[[ i do so much remember the "lack of - rule of law" at the county court when i motioned for discovery as part of an appeal which was to examine the items which i wanted to be discovered; I WAS DENIED discovery because i am an "esclavos". ]]

its suppression of independent media

[[ ?what is "independent" about a media in russia which is funded by the CIA ?]]

and its stifling of the political opposition,

[[ ? which state is at question here ? is it FLORIDA ?]]

among other problems. Their resolution asserts that Russia fails to meet the minimum standards of democratic rule "that characterize every other member of the G-8."

[[ ???? is that a failure of russia or america ???? ]]
