What do You think of Canada?

then Quebec City is a must-see. If you are west, then try
Victoria and Vancouver Island, generally
The west coast trail is a must see, if you are into hiking. You would need a least 6 days but it is well worth the time. On the other side if you are headed east, I would check out the 10,000 island cruise near Kingston. It tours the north-east end of lake Ontario.

What a stupid generalization. Your poor folk, trying to be rich have used that island for a Tourist joint. Did you hear the firing squad? No because they place you in a box.
Most smart Cubans have made it the US. At times the trip was easy, others had it hard.
What is the immigration rate to Cuba: zero.
I say stick to Disneyland.
There is a reason we have let Cuba be. Think about that one.

I have seen over my life to date the Francaphones ( French Canadians) take over total control of our Federal Govt. They ignore Western Canada and its people and everything goes to Quebec. We are two solitudes!
The majoriity 75% plus feel the West is getting the shaft. This is well documented. Quebec has 49 % of there people wanting to suceed from Canada. The West about 35%.
The 3rd part of Canada that is neglected by everyone in the south.(90% of all Canadians live less than 200 miles from the US border and over 50% of oue econamy is dominated by US owned Companys)
The 3rd part is the North. I lived and travelled there for 14yrs. It produces oil, gas, minerals incl 15% of the worlds diamonds and the wealth all flows to the south. After the french govt. in Ottawa has ripped off its booty!
The aboriginal people ( Indians.Eskimos-Inuit ) are given a subsistance living by the federal govt. The plan is to assimulate them as soon as possible. many put up a valiant fight but it only slows the process down. The UN has documented a number of human rights abuses over the years but the French Govt. is determined.
Only 3% of Canadians living in the south have ever been North of the 60th parallel. Thats about 800 miles north of the US border.
250,000 Americans travel through BC to get to Alaska every year. We siezed 10,000 handguns at the Canadian Alaska border last year?? Bears, Trerrorists shame on CNN

A dumb one.
# 1 Has Ottawa F----- up the French in Quebec. They had a referendum and voted 50% for seperation from Canada.
The Canadian law unlike the US allows Provinces to leave if thry so choose. Anyway considering the state of Canadas Military we could use spitballs to defeat them if it came to that.
The Americans have always wanted our resourses. cheak out thier plan to get our water in the 1950s. called THE GARRISON DIVERSION. It was a series of canals out of Western canada to the US.
I for one have no problem being economically dominated by the US. We have been for years. They can have all the gas, oil.water and whatever else as long as they pay for it in US dollars preferably. That is free enterprise. I suppose you left wing socialists want to keep all our natural resources and go on welfare while our economy stands still.
I don,t like George Bush and his warmongers but I have no quarral with the american people. Half of them don,t like George Bush. He is toast in the next electin anyway. The American people will not stand by and let him rape and pillage thier freedoms nor should they.
I belive that Western Canada would be better off hooked up to the US and not Eastern Canada ( East of Thunder Bay) We have a lot more in common with Washington and Oregon and Las Vegas than Ottawa.
We have billions of gallons of ofshore oil in BC . The Feds. have stopped us from developing it for years. They ( French) don,t want us to become economically powerful they have enough trouble already with Alberta.
I am all for Seperation and a new Western Federal govt.

I too am a multi-generation Canadian (whose people were first 13 colonies people) and I'm 180 deg from your opinion on separating the nation.
I love the French. Perhaps that's because I'm a Maritimer and the Maritimers understand and appreciate the history of the nation a little better.
JJ Charest, himself French and despite the aspirations of the Bombardier company to sell a gazillion firefighting airplanes, was the ONLY North American politician to support the Russian ff aircraft in writing in over 8 years of efforts.
I believe you are crudely generalizing your Canadaview and abusing statistics.

Good analysis. I had an idea that's the case.
My folks' want the French to be happy with their new country and ask, would the USA allow Alberta only to join the US. I know on this BB that idea would get ripped. This BB is just too left for me.
The interest from the US is nil. Most Americans' could not find Alberta on a map. It's another example of a nation imploding upon itself.
Fargo N. Dakota is facing a complete loss of population. Only in the Sun belt is the population growing so Alberta would not be of interest. Form your own country. The Czeck did it peacefully.
Contrary to many, the USA dosen't need any oil, diamonds--all the things that come from trust nations. We need skilled labor and capital.
Our best immigrants are from India.

All_red: A freaking Yankee meddler who chooses his facts to suit his prejudices and Wall Street Journal biases.
Grow up, Red. This ain't the truth. To accept it as truth. To get by inconvenient facts like Jean J Charest's recent election, you need to be intellectually dishonest. I would not have thought that of you, but then I didn't know you well enough - until now.

The reference to Fargo , Jesus why do I waste my time, is that the population of the US is moving south. To a warmer climates. If Alberta were on it's own, no one would move there.
But they are enough hovering on the border. Gil's point.
I have never read the Wall Street J. You having a tough day?
