>mataj..are you in the movement ?

Sure! Wasn't I intelligible enough about it?

>Did you both vote

Of course.

I suspect Pravda is concerned about a bandwidth here. There's also a limitation about the number of faces you can put into your post (Guess how I foud that out).

How about this?

A user who wants an avatar submits it to the site admin. for consideration first. If its approved, then this becomes the only avatar that that user can utilise for the next month. If after a month one wants to change their avatar, they can do so again.

This will stop any threat of offensive .jpgs being uploaded and of course, minimise traffic created by those who continually like to change their avatars.

Yay?
Nay?

A really good idea!
But....question is, if the admin have other options in the software than just to enable or disable the avartars.

>>> As a moderator, do you answere Q's?

I have no other info about anything (at least yet), than all other people have, but as the nice guy I am, I always try to help people with tech problems as much as I can.

>>> If somebody is offended, how the personal block works?

NO IDEA!!!! :D
I think, but not yet sure, that I can edit in peoles postings, or maybe I can just erase them. One thing is sure, and that is that moderators can NOT ban posters!!!!

>>> Or...does it work?

Actually not for me, at least for the moment. I guess it's some tech problem. I tried few exercises last evening (means, 8 hours ago), but nothing worked.

Final note is, that if I remain as mod, and it works, I will always leave a note if I "moderate" something, and it will only be the very worst crap I will attack.

I just love this new edit feature, cause it improves my spelling so much :)

There could be more issues than offensive photos. I'm guessing the reason the upload function wasn't working before was due to persmissions set on the server. It's always a security risk to when you allow a user to upload a file to the server. Someone can upload a virus and it also leaves the door open to hackers to have permissions wide open.

Having the link function to display the avatars would be best, but didn't it also say that these files would be stored temporarily on the server?

Bring the avatars back!!!!

A solution could be to have images on file that you select your avatars from.

Adm? What do you think?

I could help gather images for an avatar gallery :D

Even if they were cashed, it wouldnt be the big load. 1-200 avatars total, of amybe 2KB.
To view a page, maybe 10 diffferent avartars at the same time = 20KB.

the idea of a selection of avatars is ok, but not very personal, and I don't think it would have the same appeal to me.
I spent ages getting together a collection of fiendish avatars for different days lol, and now i cant use them :)
as for offensive avatars, moderators could delete them
as for viruses e.t.c, comeon, we have things called antivirus software lol, and as yet I am unaware of any that can be hidden as .jpg files or .gif files

Don't misunderstand my above posting, and it is not related directly to your question, but it's just a general statement about what goes on here :)

See ya,

Soddom,

I'm just throwing things out there. There can be security issues with uploading any file because of the permissions set on the server. Just trying to guess what's going on and maybe a solution.
