Avoid These 8 Worst Foods in America [Health]

Avoid These 8 Worst Foods in America [Health]
from Lifehacker by Adam Pash

The New York Times reviews a book called Eat This, Not That!, a nutrition guide full of images of foods you shouldn't eat and their healthier substitutes. The book also has a section highlighting 20 of the country's worst foods, and the article republishes eight of them, categorized with names like "worst fast food meal" and "worst drink". The "winners"?

* Worst Fast Food Meal: McDonald's Chicken Selects Premium Breast Strips with creamy ranch sauce. Chicken sounds healthy, but not at 870 calories.

# Worst Drink: Jamba Juice Chocolate Moo'd Power Smoothie. With 166 grams of sugar, you could have had eight servings of Ben & Jerry's.
# Worst Supermarket Meal: Pepperidge Farm Roasted Chicken Pot Pie. One pie packs 64 grams of fat.
# Worst "Healthy" Burger: Ruby Tuesday Bella Turkey Burger. With 1,145 calories, not a very healthy choice.
# Worst Airport Snack: Cinnabon Classic Cinnamon Roll. Packed with 813 hot gooey calories and 5 grams of trans fats.
# Worst Kids' Meal: Macaroni Grill Double Macaroni 'n Cheese. With 62 fat grams, it's the equivalent of 1.5 full boxes of Kraft Mac 'n Cheese.
# Worst Salad: On the Border Grande Taco Salad with Taco Beef. A salad with 102 grams of fat and 2,410 mg of sodium.
# Worst Dessert: Chili's Chocolate Chip Paradise Pie with Vanilla Ice Cream. At 1,600 calories, it's like eating the caloric equivalent of three Big Macs.

So, out of curiosity—any of your "diet" staples make the list? Let's hear how you fared, along with your votes for worst foods, in the comments.

The world is on the brink of war, the global economy is collapsing, and all you can think about is what's good to eat?

Can you at least post in the science, cultural, social forum, and leave the Main for serious updates?

I just realized...Israel just got $30 billion from the bankrupt USA, and so you don't give a f*** what happens to the world.

I’ve heard that obese Americans eat far too many McBlimpburgers.

No matter what we eat or don't eat we are all going to die in the end. We are human. We are born, we do what ever then we die. Food won't make us live forever neither will those drugs we see on TV non-stop.

Ok, enough happy thoughts from me. But it is interesting that before all the calorie counting and fat watching, humanity survived. Must have been luck I guess. Besides, who wants to live forever in this world. That would be a curse I would wish on no one.

Ok NOW I am done, lol.

This is exactly what needs to be talked about. No I don't mean good or bad food. But priorities. I keep seeing on the news about how this food or that food is bad. How this drug or that drug will save your life. How the water is poison. Then a couple of weeks later they reverse it and say the opposite.

Then we keep hearing about TV shows. Which is no surprise since the ones that own the news own those TV shows. I am sick of hearing about an actor and their love life, drug habit, or what ever.

When it comes to food, guess what... Even eating healthy food can kill a person. Eating this food or that food can kill a person. Why? Because we are human and we are going to die anyways so why even worry about it. It is a distraction, fear tactic and is based on corporations wanting more money.

I like the food they serve in the 'Fear Factory' show

However, you are right

It is about priorities
