The Amariya bombing was the worst civilian tragedy of the Gulf War. Reporters who visited the site saw charred bodies of women, children and men being pulled from the wreckage.
Iraq's vice president called it "one of the most horrible crimes committed by the evil American administration."
A man who was one of only 14 survivors and still bears physical scars said the memories still run in his blood.

HANA AMED was 32 years old and pregnant when she was killed, with her four children and her husband, in the al-Amiriya shelter in western Baghdad on February 13, 1991.
The family had gone underground on a freezing winter night, halfway through Operation Desert Storm. They thought that they would be safe from the rockets and missiles that were raining down on their city.
