I agree and would like to add that  in popular culture consciousness and sense of responsibility are closely related.

Do you not think then that as one loses that "sense of responsibility" that their very consciousness is diminished?

Yes. The opposite should be considered also.

We can admit that the sense of responsibility grows individually and personally; the same for consiousness.

Some say there's a resolution time for consciousness.
