Evolution and the Bible

Many creationists say that you have to either believe in evolution, or the Bible, but not both because the two terms contradict each other.

The Genesis account of creation does not rule out evolution.

It even supports it with the way that certain verses are worded.

Genesis 1:24 says "Let the earth bring forth living creatures."

God commanded the earth to produce living creatures...He did not say, Let there be lions, tigers, etc.

Nothing in the Bible is contradictory to the theory of evolution

Accepting evolution does not harm any of the doctrines of the Bible

Many creationists say that humans and dinosaurs once lived together.

If dinosaurs and humans were found together, it would not be evidence against evolution.

The Big Bang

In the beginning, about 13.7 billion years ago, the big bang occurred.

God said it, and it went “bang.”

During the next 9.2 billion years, the universe was expanding from this “bang.”

As the earth began to coalesce from interstellar matter, it eventually formed the general size and shape of our present world about 4.5 billion years ago.

God has directed all evolution with intent to create Perfect Man.

Lecomte du Noüy explains it all very clearly in HUMAN DESTINY

By examining science and Scripture, you can come to the conclusion that God created the universe over billions of years, and you can still believe the creation account found in Genesis Chapter One.

Thank You, Grog for clueing me into a treasure trove of good art from ancient times.

One thing that seems to be overlooked by many Christians is that Adam may not have been first of mankind on Earth, but was first to be selected to receive Gospel of Life.

This is what Genesis 2 is likely descibing:

--- the LORD God formed Adam of the dust/population of nations, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life - Gospel of Life; and Adam became a living soul.
And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there He put Adam whom He had formed - to be nurtured in Gospel of becoming a Perfect Man. ---

But, Adam chose to know good & evil for himself, thus accusing & murdering Christ in his mind & putting  Adam's lust & delusions on highest throne his mind.

This was beginning of sin, religion &  blaming women & God for our problems, just as Adam did when confronted by God,...."the woman You gave me."

Adam blamed God Daughter, Eve, and God too for Adam's wrong doing.

Eve was deceived, not Adam. 1 Timothy 2:14

So, if Adam was not deceived, then he must have been the deceiver, yes?

Ivan, there is evidence for Adam,
there is no evidence for anyone prior to Adam.

You can speculate anything but there is no proof. And you will not find proof because it does not exist.

The determination of truth ends there.

Perhaps Thou hast not looked around enough nor observed closely enough to rule out life before Adam/Genesis.

Would a detective, as described by Sherlock Holmes stories, be content with a very limited examination of evidence"?

You have proof of man existing prior to Adam. ..!?!?

The burden of proof is on you.
I made and proved my point.
You say it ain't so, fine, don't go back billions of years, I'll be happy with one more generation before Adam.

What evidence?
What evidence do you have of man before Adam?

Gen 1:28  And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

replenish the earth

Interesting choice of words. What needed replacing.

At what point did you provide anything resembling proof (evidence would be more appropriate, but this you also have not provided in the least) for Adam? Iron Age myths don't quite cut it.

replenish the earth

It's part of the KJV's rather unique use of language.

Genesis 1:28

Young's Literal Translation:

28 And God blesseth them, and God saith to them, `Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it, and rule over fish of the sea, and over fowl of the heavens, and over every living thing that is creeping upon the earth.'

Luther Bible:

All of these examples are simply speaking of "filling" the earth, not re-filling it. Here is an explanation of the use of the word "replenish" in the KJV: https://answersingen...the-earth-mean/
