There really should be a section on nature. There is so much in nature that is wonderful. Biodiversity is the only real miracle there is. There are 9000 species of birds alone and 8-10 million species of living things. There are innumerable birds and other creatures that are insanely beautiful. There must be tens of thousands of species of flowering plants. Volcanoes and glaciers and icebergs and coral reefs blow the mind (I have been fortunate in seeing all four including a continuously erupting Strombolian volcano).

Borneo

I am off to North Borneo for a few days. I hope to see some beautiful creatures there. I will try to share some photographs here if all goes well.

Back

I got back from Borneo some days ago. Saw a reasonable amount of interesting stuff including wild orangutans. Will try to add some pictures here. The 2MB limit on picture size is ridiculous.

Utterly Infuriating

I tried to post a picture of the incredibly beautiful Grey Crowned Crane. For some incrediibly irritating and infuriating reason the offering was rejected with an effing inane error message.

Mount Yasur

One the most incredible spectacles I have ever witnessed. I was all booked to travel to Nicaragua last year to see the Masaya volcano. This is the world's only easily accessible lava lake. My present state of health rule out the other lava lakes. However the damned CIA started fomenting unrest there and I had to reschedule.

Crab eater Seals

(There are no crabs in Antarctica - These seals live on krill like most other wildlife on that continent.)

Aurora Borealis

I went to Whitehorse in the Yukon in 2015 to witness the Northern Lights. The display on the first night was very good. I obtained photographs from my guides but this one is from the web, location unknown. The aurora is white rather than green as in the photographs.

The short beaked echidna

Imagine a mammal that lays eggs ! Science Fiction ? We have them on the Australian continent. I have seen a few in Tasmania.

Near Sydney, Australia

Dazzling stalactites, stalagmites, "shawls" and other formations millions of years in the making.

House Reef, Mantaray Island, Yasawa chain Fiji

I have snorkeled this beautiful reef. I have also seen a Manta Ray in the ocean in the vicinity.
