Jeffrey Epstein's inner circle Ghislaine Maxwell and Jean-Luc Brunel traced to Brazil
Jean-Luc Brunel's phone was traced to the Infinity Blue Resort and Spa in Santa Catarina, according to a former US police officer.

Jeffrey Epstein's death has not silenced his victims.

The prosecution of the disgraced billionaire might be over, but global investigations into his inner circle of alleged enablers are only just beginning.

Among the names most mentioned are Ghislaine Maxwell and Jean-Luc Brunel.

Epstein's friends and associates

Ghislaine Maxwell's friendship with Epstein goes back years, she was reportedly his girlfriend at one point. It's also claimed she played a significant part in the recruitment of girls and young women.

Jean-Luc Brunel ran successful French model agencies with high profile names on his books. It's alleged he also procured women for Epstein.

The pair haven't been seen since Epstein killed himself on 10 August, while facing trial for sex trafficking.

They've gone to ground, but Sky News understands they've recently been in the Brazilian riviera.

Information gathered by a former US police officer, who was not paid or commissioned by Sky News, shows that Brunel's phone was traced to the Infinity Blue Resort and Spa in Santa Catarina. It is an upmarket holiday area popular with wealthy tourists.

At the same time, Ghislaine Maxwell's phone was also connected to a network in Santa Catarina state.

Sky News visited the hotel but by the time we arrived there was no sign of either Brunel or Maxwell.

Ghislaine Maxwell was last seen in Manchester-by-the-Sea, Massachusetts, in mid-August.

Brunel's lawyer denies he is on the run, insisting he is willing to cooperate with investigations.

Yet there has been no sign of him since 5 July when he was pictured partying at the exclusive members-only Paris Country Club. He was a guest at the club's Soiree Blanche where tables cost over £1000. This was his last public appearance.

Similarly, Ghislaine Maxwell hasn't been seen for weeks.

She shut down her ocean protection TerraMar Project in the US on 12 July, just six days after Epstein's arrest.

Sky News has learnt she has also formally started proceedings to shut the UK arm of the project too.

Companies House records show she signed off the closure on 13 August, three days after Epstein was found dead in his cell.

Maxwell and Brunel both enjoyed a lavish, luxury lifestyle, hanging out with huge names in politics, business and entertainment.

Since the death of Epstein questions have been asked about their role in his trafficking and abuse of young girls.

Ghislaine Maxwell, daughter of disgraced newspaper tycoon, Robert Maxwell, has been named in a number of papers filed in the US.

Among them a case brought by Virginia Roberts, now known as Virginia Roberts Giuffre.

She claimed Maxwell had recruited her as an underage teenager, to have sex with Jeffrey Epstein.

Her case also mentioned Prince Andrew. She says she had sex with him on three separate occasions when she was seventeen years old.

A now infamous photo of Prince Andrew with his arm around her waist, shows Ghislaine Maxwell also in the shot. The image reportedly taken at Maxwell's central London mews house.

A statement from Buckingham Palace strenuously denied "any form of sexual contact or relationship with Virginia Roberts".

There has been much scrutiny of the Duke of York's friendship with Jeffrey Epstein. Epstein and Maxwell were among the guests at a large royal birthday party at Windsor Castle. They were also invited to Sandringham, the Queen's country retreat.

The Prince and Epstein were photographed holidaying together in Thailand, on board a private yacht surrounded by young women.

Even after Epstein was convicted of procuring a minor for prostitution and put on the sex offenders register, Prince Andrew continued seeing him.

They were photographed in 2010 walking in New York's Central Park. And video recently emerged from the same time, of Prince Andrew looking out from the door of Epstein's Manhattan mansion.

In a statement Prince Andrew said: "I have said previously that it was a mistake and an error to see him after his release in 2010 and I can only reiterate my regret that I was mistaken to think that what I thought I knew of him was evidently not the real person, given what we now know.

"This is a difficult time for everyone involved and I am at a loss to be able to understand or explain Mr Epstein's lifestyle. I deplore the exploitation of any human being and would not condone, participate in, or encourage any such behaviour."

The FBI is investigating claims from Epstein's alleged victims, which might include his links to Prince Andrew.

There are private cases underway too. Ghislaine Maxwell is named in a well-documented case brought by Jennifer Araoz.

Prince Andrew, Duke of York, has denied being aware of any of Epstein's criminal behaviour

Victoria Giuffre: 'He knows exactly what he's done'
Ms Araoz claims Epstein frequently masturbated in front of her and raped her. She's suing Epstein's estate and others including Ghislaine Maxwell.

She claims Maxwell was complicit in Epstein's sex-trafficking. Lawyers acting for Ms Araoz say they've not yet been able to serve her with legal papers because they cannot find her.

They've hired private investigators to try to find her, but so far her location remains unknown.

Other women have made similar claims against Ghislaine Maxwell, alleging she recruited them and facilitated encounters with Epstein.

Meanwhile in Paris, preliminary investigations are also underway into Epstein and his associates, relating to the rape and sexual assault of women and girls aged under fifteen.

Prosecutors in France are trying to find out whether claims of sex-trafficking took place on French soil.

As part of the investigations, one of the model agencies which was founded by Jean-Luc Brunel was recently searched.

Virginia Roberts Giuffre claims Brunel offered girls modelling jobs in the US, but was actually recruiting them for Epstein.

Brunel, who has been accused of sexual assault in the past, has strongly denied any wrongdoing in his work as a model agent.

Sarah Ferguson Finally Breaks Silence About Ex-Husband Prince Andrew's Creepy Ties To Jeffrey Epstein

Although Sarah Ferguson is not officially married to Prince Andrew any longer, they have remained extremely close over the years. Ferguson, informally known as “Fergie” has pretty much been a permanent fixture in the royal family, even after she and Prince Andrew were divorced.

Ferguson has referred to her ex-husband as “my prince,” and the two of them both looked happy and extremely proud at the wedding of their daughter: Princess Eugenie. They are also said to be over the moon now that their older daughter, Princess Beatrice, is engaged and slated to be married.

Jeffrey Epstein dies in apparent suicide in New York jail

Wealthy financier, 66, had been accused of sex trafficking and was being held without bail after being arrested on 6 July

Wealthy financier Jeffrey Epstein has killed himself at a New York jail, according to authorities in New York and media reports.

“Saturday, August 10, 2019, at approximately 6.30am, inmate Jeffrey Edward Epstein was found unresponsive in his cell … subsequently pronounced dead by hospital staff,” reads a statement from the Metropolitan Correctional Center where Epstein, 66, had been held without bail since his arrest on 6 July on charges of sex trafficking girls as young as 14.

Multiple media reports said Epstein had died by suicide.

The FBI is investigating the incident, and the attorney general, William Barr, said he had also opened an investigation by the Department of Justice’s inspector general and was “appalled” by the death. “Epstein’s death raises serious questions that must be answered,” Barr said.

Lawyers for several of Epstein’s alleged victims, including Virginia Giuffre, whose depositions detailing her experience as one of the financiers’ “slaves” when she was just 14 years old were released yesterday, called for the investigations into his crimes to continue, despite his death.

“We are hopeful that the government will continue to investigate and will focus on those who participated and facilitated Epstein’s horrifying sex trafficking scheme that damaged so many,” Sigrid McCawley said.

The New York representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez tweeted shortly after Epstein’s death was reported: “We need answers. Lots of them.”

Epstein’s death comes a day after unsealed documents in New York revealed the extent of his abuse of young women at his home in Palm Beach, New York and the Virgin Islands.

Epstein had been held since he was arrested on charges relating to alleged sexual misconduct from at least 2002 to 2005. He had pleaded not guilty to the charges.

An earlier attempt to prosecute him on similar charges collapsed when authorities granted him an unusually generous deal to plead guilty to state prostitution charges in Florida.

His death comes just days after he was found unconscious in a Manhattan jail cell with injuries to his neck, US media had reported, citing unidentified sources.

It was not clear how he suffered those injuries. Two anonymous sources told New York’s local NBC News 4 that Epstein’s injuries may have been self-inflicted, while another said an assault by another inmate had not been ruled out.

After the incident, Epstein had been placed on suicide watch.

The Brooklyn-born financier made his name at the investment bank Bear Stearns before opening his own firm in 1982, managing money for clients with wealth in excess of $1bn. The business came with an intensive social schedule. Epstein positioned himself as a party figure in Manhattan and Palm Beach, Florida, and courted the rich, famous and powerful across America and the world.

Jeffrey Epstein: sex abuse allegations against billionaire socialite began in 2005

Epstein’s circle of friends and acquaintances has included Donald Trump; Bill Clinton; Prince Andrew; Leslie Wexner, founder of the company that owns the Victoria’s Secret lingerie brand; and many other prominent names in law, entertainment and politics.

The first allegations of sexual abuse came in 2005 when a woman contacted the Palm Beach police, alleging her 14-year-old stepdaughter had been taken to Epstein’s mansion by an older girl. The girl was allegedly paid $300 to strip and massage Epstein.

That triggered an 11-month investigation that drew in the FBI. Interviews with alleged victims and witnesses showed that some of the girls involved were under 18.

A large tranche of documents released on Friday from a lawsuit against Ghislaine Maxwell – who allegedly procured girls for the financier – contained both lurid claims and denials of world leaders’ involvement in his alleged sex trafficking.

Giuffre, who is among Epstein’s many accusers, sued Maxwell in 2015, alleging the British socialite and daughter of the former media tycoon Robert Maxwell defamed her by claiming she was a liar in her accusations against Maxwell and Epstein.

The documents appeared to bolster claims that many in Epstein’s circle had taken part in his hospitality that included “massages” from dozens of underage girls.

After original attempts to prosecute Epstein collapsed, Trump’s former labor secretary Alex Acosta came under repeated scrutiny for being seen as too lenient when he oversaw the case.

In February, a judge ruled prosecutors in the case violated the law by concealing the deal from his underage alleged victims. Acosta resigned from his administration post in July.

As Epstein’s world unraveled, some of those who had sought his financial investment advice came forward while many more preferred to distance themselves, issuing statements painting their interactions in minimal terms. They included Trump and Clinton, who both issued statements saying they had had little to do with Epstein in recent years.

Wexner said this week that the financier had “misappropriated” more than $46m of his personal fortune. He said money went missing a decade ago, according to a letter to the Wexner Foundation.

“We discovered that he had misappropriated vast sums of money from me and my family,” Wexner said in the letter. “This was, frankly, a tremendous shock, even though it clearly pales in comparison to the unthinkable allegations against him now.”

Wexner hired Epstein in 1991 to manage his money, giving him vast power over his investment and tax affairs.

Deutsche Bank and JP Morgan also said they were examining trades Epstein made when he was a client.

The allegations of fraud came as Florida’s governor, Ron DeSantis, ordered a state criminal investigation of a Palm Beach sheriff and former Palm Beach state attorney over their handling of Epstein’s 2007 sex abuse case.

The latest investigation, reported the Miami Herald, will probably focus on the lenient work privileges Epstein enjoyed while serving a 13-month sentence for soliciting prostitution from underage girls, the product of the controversial 2008 deal with federal authorities.

The financier was allowed to work from his office six days a week, according to Palm Beach county sheriff’s records. His personal limousine picked him up from jail as early as 7.15am and dropped him off as late as 10.40pm.

In the US, the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is 800-273-8255.

The Miami Herald’s “Perversion of Justice” investigative team joined leading sex trafficking experts Tuesday night as they discussed the challenges, rewards and remaining questions of reporting on “one of the most lenient plea deals of a child sex trafficker” in the country.

“When I saw stories about Jeffrey Epstein, who molested dozens of women, he had fallen into a sort of footnote of story,” said Herald investigative reporter Julie K. Brown, who wrote the three-part series examining how the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Miami granted Epstein the deal.

“It was this storyline that really involved a lot of salacious details and did not address what I felt was the most important thing ... how did these prosecutors left him off the hook, essentially?”

Brown was joined on the stage by Herald visual journalist Emily Michot, who also worked on the project, at a town hall moderated by Nancy Ancrum, the Herald’s editorial page editor. Dozens of people turned out for the event, which took place at the Actors’ Playhouse at the Miracle Theatre in Coral Gables.

“THE GIRLS WERE JUST SO YOUNG”: THE HORRORS OF JEFFREY EPSTEIN’S PRIVATE ISLAND

Locals say Epstein was flying in underage girls long after his conviction for sex crimes—and authorities did nothing to stop him. “It was like he was flaunting it,” says an employee at the airstrip on St. Thomas. “But it was said that he always tipped really well, so everyone overlooked it.”

Ever since billionaire Jeffrey Epstein was arrested on July 6 on charges of sex trafficking, the media have been scrambling to make sense of what happened on Little St. James, his 70-acre private island in the Caribbean. But on nearby St. Thomas, locals say Epstein continued to bring underage girls to the island as recently as this year—a decade after he was forced to register as a convicted sex offender—and that authorities did nothing to stop him.

Two employees who worked at the local airstrip on St. Thomas tell Vanity Fair that they witnessed Epstein boarding his private plane on multiple occasions in the company of girls who appeared to be under the age of consent. According to the employees, the girls arrived with Epstein aboard one of his two Gulfstream jets. Between January 2018 and June 2019, previously published flight records show, the jets were airborne at least one out of every three days. They stopped all over the world, sometimes for only a few hours at a time: Paris, London, Slovakia, Mexico, Morocco. When they left St. Thomas, the employees say, they returned to airports near Epstein’s homes in Palm Beach and New York City.

Somebody wrote an article saying that Epstein's operation was a blackmail racket. He said this was nothing new and that Roy Cohn had something similar a few decades ago. Roy Cohn was Drumpf'ds mentor, a faggot and was on the board of the shady Permindex corporation which bumped off JFK and nearly got de Gaulle.

Federal judge tosses star attorney Boies and law firm from Epstein victim’s libel case

One of America’s most celebrated lawyers, David Boies, was disqualified Wednesday by a federal judge from representing a woman who accused financier Jeffrey Epstein and his renowned former defense attorney, Alan Dershowitz, of having sex with her when she was an underage girl.

U.S. District Judge Loretta Preska in New York not only tossed Boies but also his entire law firm, Boies Schiller Flexner, concluding they have become witnesses in the woman’s defamation case against Dershowitz and can no longer be her advocate.

But while siding with Dershowitz in his bid to oust Boies and his New York-based firm, the judge rejected his motion to dismiss the libel lawsuit brought by one of Epstein’s victims, Virginia Giuffre.

The extraordinary turn of events in Giuffre’s civil case — based partly on evidence of a secret recording taken by Dershowitz of his legal nemesis, Boies — means she might have to hire another law firm to represent her. Boies has cut a prominent figure as a lawyer in the U.S. government’s anti-trust case against Microsoft, for Al Gore in the 2000 presidential election recount, and for movie mogul Harvey Weinstein, who was accused of sexually assaulting numerous Hollywood actresses.

Lawyer for Epstein Accuser Ejected From Dershowitz Suit

MANHATTAN (CN) – When Alan Dershowitz faces off against the woman who says he was part of Jeffrey Epstein’s underage sex ring, he may not have to go up against his longtime courtroom rival David Boies.

Though the firm Boies Schiller Flexner has vowed to appeal, a federal judge ruled Wednesday that Virginia Giuffre must seek new counsel amid allegations that Boies conspired with her to bring a false claim against the former Harvard professor.

“Plaintiff’s attorneys must be independent and free to challenge the credibility of Boies and other BSF partners in order to test the allegations made in the complaint they drafted and filed,” U.S. District Judge Loretta Preska wrote.

Boies began representing Guiffre after the Miami Herald exposed the sweetheart deal that Epstein cut in 2008 to avoid federal charges of coercing dozens of underage girls into sex.

The investigative series renewed allegations that Epstein ran secret underage sex ring that catered to a roster of famous men — including President Donald Trump, former President Bill Clinton and Prince Andrew. Giuffre says she met Epstein while she was underage, working as a locker-room attendant at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort, and that Dershowitz was one of multiple friends and colleagues with whom Epstein later “shared” her.

Dershowitz, who represented Epstein in the 2008 case, in turn accused Guiffre of
