"I see similarities after 5 months of Iraqi Freedom Fighter victories."

Again, these people are NOT freedom fighters. These people are simply anti-western, pro-Saddam fanatics. These supposed "freedom fighters" are just prolonging the time that America has to be in Iraq by killing or attempting to kill the very government officials that will end the US occupation. They tried to kill the man responsible for drafting the Iraqi CONSTITUTION. You know, the document that, once written, will pave the way for democratic elections and freedom for the Iraqi people? They are killing their own citizens(theatre bombing, bus bombing, marketplace bombing) and that is not the act of "freedom fighters".

US forces face night of terror in Kirkuk

Friday 03 October 2003, 1:15 Makka Time, 22:15 GMT

Kirkuk is not a popular posting for the US occupiers

A carefully planned series of resistance attacks, causing death and injury, are reported to have brought chaos throughout the northern city of Kirkuk in Iraq.

The night of terror began with a mortar bomb attack followed by a deadly operation launched by two resistance fighters who blew themselves up outside a dry cleaners frequented by US troops in Kirkuk.

At least six explosions rocked the northern city. The first explosion caused by a mortar attack destroyed a US Humvee vehicle and wounded two American soldiers.

US Major Peter Mitchell told Aljazeera.net: "We are aware of reports of an attempt by atleast one individual to ignite himself near a dry cleaners but we have no official confirmation about a series of attacks."

However Lieutenant Shaker al-Riyashi of the civil defence said there were "two youths who wore explosive belts strapped to their bodies but we were not able to identify them because they were badly mutilated."

The attack at the dry cleaners occurred about 11:30 pm (19:30 GMT) when the shop was empty. It triggered a fire that was quickly doused, Riyashi said.

Ambushes like this one on a US
military vehicle are common

The US military initially said they had no report of any incident. The attacks came as the top US commander in Iraq, Lieutenant General Ricardo Sanchez, said his forces were facing a deadlier foe, and after three US soldiers were killed in separate attacks in the country's central region.

Six explosions

Iraqi police chief Colonel Khattab Abd Allah said the "suicide bombing" was the first incident of its kind to take place in Kirkuk since the fall of Saddam Hussein's regime almost six months ago.

At least six explosions caused by rocket propelled grenades and mortars shook several parts of the city within 20 minutes, Abdullah said, adding that there were no immediate reports of casualties.

According to Abd Allah the blasts occured in residential sectors in the south, center, east and southwest of the city. At least one of the explosions was heard near a US position in the city, witnesses contacted by AFP said.

A senior security source said US troops rushed to the scene of the first blast in the southwestern sector of Kirkuk and transferred to a hospital two soldiers wounded in the attack. The source said he believed the blast was caused by a bomb.

Second mortar

The source, who declined to be named, said the second blast was caused by a mortar which targetted a US position in the centre of Kirkuk. The attacks came on the same day as three US soldiers died in separate resistance operations

The same location was hit by a second mortar about 10 minutes later.

The fourth blast was also caused by a mortar that hit a police station in eastern Kirkuk, he said, adding that two other blasts targetted two US positions in the centre of the town, including the military's civil affairs office.

Minutes after the last explosion an AFP correspondent said he heard US warplanes fly over Kirkuk while US troops and local police began patrolling the city.

Less than two hours later, calm returned to Kirkuk where an AFP correspondent said the local police were still patrolling the streets to look for the assailants.

Two US Soldiers Killed, Saddam Seen In Kirkuk
Oct 02, 2003
Source: Albawaba

Two American troops were killed late Wednesday in Iraq. In one incident, a US soldier was shot dead late Wednesday while on patrol in Baghdad's al-Mansour district, the U.S. command said. Another soldier was killed in a grenade attack in Samara, some 100 kilometers north of the capital.

Their deaths brought to 90 the number of American soldiers killed in attacks since US President George W. Bush declared an end to major combat May 1.

Meanwhile, Jalal Talabani, a leading member of Iraq's governing council, was quoted as saying on Wednesday that Saddam Hussein was reportedly seen in the northern Iraqi city of Kirkuk five days ago and is moving in increasingly smaller circles in order to evade capture.

Talabani, who also heads the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, one of two main groups controlling the Kurdish north of the country, told The Guardian newspaper that he had received unconfirmed reports that the ousted Iraqi leader had sheltered last weekend among a Sunni Arab community on the outskirts of Kirkuk.

He said: "Saddam has good relations with those Arabs whom he brought to Kirkuk to ethnically cleanse the city of Kurds and Turkomens."

Saddam had been moving between the Hawija area and the Kirkuk plain, sheltering among Sunni Arab tribespeople and Ba'ath loyalists who had gone to ground there after the collapse of the regime, Talabani added.

An officer with US forces stationed in Kirkuk told the British daily he was aware of the reported sighting but declined further speculation. "There have been many reports of Saddam around central Iraq. Some are plausible, others plainly not. We are conducting an ongoing operation for anyone, including the former leader, who presents a danger to stability in the country," he said. (Albawaba.com)

Israel suicide attack kills 18
A suicide bomber has killed at least 18
people and injured up to 50 in an attack
at a restaurant in the northern port of
Haifa, Israeli police say.
http://news.bbc.co.u...ast/3164096.stm
The explosion occurred in the Maxim
restaurant near Haifa's beach
promenade on the southern edge of the
city.

There was no immediate claim of
responsibility for the bombing, which
comes on the eve of the Jewish Yom
Kippur holiday.

"There was a security guard outside but the attacker managed to enter and
blow up," Israeli police chief Shlomo Aharonishky said.

"There was a very big explosion, which blew out the windows. It was
horrible," a witness told Israeli TV.

Three children are reported to be among the dead.

It is the first such attack since 9 September, when 15 people were killed in twin
suicide bombings in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv.

From AGENCE FRANCE PRESSE
************************

Iraqi army veterans in Baghdad staged another protest to demand back wages in a demonstration similar to ones which cost the lives of five former soldiers in recent days.

In Ankara, the government's spokesman, Justice Minister Cemil Cicek, told reporters that all ministers had signed a motion calling on parliament to authorize the dispatch of Turkish soldiers to Iraq, in response to a US request for military help in the increasingly turbulent country.
****************************************
TALK ABOUT OPENING A PANDORA'S BOX!
****************************************

Turkish public opinion is overwhelmingly against sending troops to Iraq, but the ruling Justice and Development Party has a comfortable majority in parliament and its MPs are expected to approve the move.
*****************************************
SELLING VOTES IS EASIER THAN DYING IN THE ARMY
*****************************************

The Iraqi leadership, and particularly the Iraqi Kurds who have had stormy relations with Ankara, have expressed opposition to the idea of a Turkish deployment.
But eager to win a say in the shaping of postwar Iraq and make up for its failure to back the war, Ankara has indicated it is willing to send up to 10,000 troops to help its US ally restore stability in its neighbor's territory.
******************************************
MORE CHAOS TO MAKE THE WAR PROFITEERS RICHER
******************************************
"Turkey is the first country to be affected by developments in Iraq, both negative and positive... We cannot just stand by and watch what is happening there," Cicek said.
The United States on Monday lauded the Turkish decision and restated its pledge to help Ankara in fighting Kurdish rebels in northern Iraq.
*******************************************
NOW KURDS WILL BE KILLING AMERICAN SOLDIERS
*******************************************
"Turkey has an important role to play in stabilizing Iraq," State Department spokesman Richard Boucher said.
********************************************
DOUBLESPEAK FOR: "TURKEY HAS AN IMPORTANT ROLE TO PLAY IN DESTABILIZING IRAQ." SO THE WAR PROFITEERS CAN GAIN FROM THE CARNAGE.
********************************************
Around Iraq on Monday, tensions smouldered as army veterans demanded they receive a one-off payment of 40 dollars they claim was promised them by the coalition.
Two veterans demanding their payments were shot dead in the northern oil city of Kirkuk Sunday night by US forces who thought they were about to riot, a police officer said Monday.
*********************************************
NOT THE MOST DIPLOMATIC WAY TO WRITE OFF DEBTS--THE DEBTS WILL NOW HAVE TO BE PAID FOR IN BLOOD. AMERICANS WILL WONDER WHY THEIR RICH THINK A US SOLDIER IS WORTH ONLY $40.
**********************************************
The pair "were waiting for a taxi to pick them up after waiting fruitlessly all day to receive their salary when US soldiers opened fire in the air and toward the people," police Major Etman Awad Mohammed told AFP.
Eight others were wounded, he said.
**********************************************
AND IF THE WOUNDED DIE TOMORROW, YOU WON'T HEAR ABOUT IT FROM THE PENTAGON AND US MEDIA. THEY DON'T COUNT IRAQI DEATHS, REMEMBER? BUT THE IRAQIS ARE COUNTING. COUNTING THE HOURS UNTIL THEIR NEXT AMBUSH OF THE AMERICANS.
**********************************************
Clashes between US troops and angry Iraqi former servicemen had already left two Iraqis dead in Baghdad and one in the main southern city of Basra on Saturday.
In Beiji, 225 kilometres (140 miles) north of Baghdad, police and veterans demanding their pay also traded fire Sunday, with members of the crowd shooting off rocket-propelled grenades, said 4th Infantry Division spokesperson Major Josslyn Aberle.
************************************************
IF THEY'RE SO BOLD TO SHOOT ROCKETS IN A DAYTIME DEMONSTRATION, WHAT WILL HAPPEN AT NIGHT?!
************************************************
The three-hour skirmish saw an RPG set ablaze a fuel tanker and hit the Beiji mayor's office, which was ransacked, she said.
************************************************
HAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
************************************************
Six people were taken into custody and the Iraqi police found none of the men were actually from the refinery town, she added, but refused to give further details. The debacle ended with the sacking Monday of Beiji's police chief, Aberle said.
************************************************
AND THE NEW PIG CHIEF WILL BE A BIGGER FOOL!
************************************************
Back in Iraq, the US military said Monday it had shut down Camp Cropper, a prison facility at Baghdad airport where hundreds of Iraqis were held in tents, drawing sharp criticism from human rights groups.
*********************************************
NOW THEY'VE LEARNED THEIR LESSON AND WILL PUT THE CONCENTRATION CAMP IN THE DESERT AWAY FROM THE MEDIA

BAGHDAD, Iraq - Roadside bombings in central Iraq (news - web sites) killed three U.S. soldiers and an Iraqi interpreter and wounded six other service members, the U.S. military said Tuesday. They were the first "reported" deaths of American soldiers by hostile fire in Iraq since Friday.

The first bombing came Monday night, just west of Baghdad, killing one soldier attached to the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment and wounding another, the U.S. Central Command said.

About an hour later, another roadside bombing killed two soldiers from the 82nd Airborne Division and their Iraqi translator, the military said. Two other soldiers were injured in the bombing, in Haswah about 25 miles south of Baghdad. Another roadside bomb exploded Tuesday near a convoy of U.S. troops driving near central Tikrit, wounding three soldiers.
